Who we are

CineVerse is operated by [TO BE CONFIRMED] ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described below. You can contact us at [TO BE CONFIRMED].

What we collect when you write a review or a comment

Your account email address and the display name you use on CineVerse (your account is created and managed by the UpVerse accounts service, auth.upverse.net).
The review or comment you write, the score you give (where you give one), and the date you posted it.
A hashed version of the IP address you post from, used to stop spam and abuse. We do not store your IP address in plain text, and the hashed value is deleted after 30 days.
Moderation records: the outcome of our checks, the reason if a post is rejected, and the date of that decision.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

To publish your review and show your score: performance of a contract with you.
To keep CineVerse free of spam, abuse and unlawful content: our legitimate interests in running a safe service. This is also why we keep the hashed IP address for 30 days.
To answer your questions, honour your rights, and defend ourselves if a claim is made: our legitimate interests and our legal obligations.

Who can see what

Your display name, your review text and your score are public on CineVerse.
Your email address is never public. It is not shown to other users, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Some processors act for us (hosting, email delivery, error monitoring). They only process data on our instructions.

How long we keep it

Account email: while your account is open, and up to 30 days after you ask us to delete it.
Hashed IP address: 30 days.
Reviews and comments: until you delete them, or until you delete your account. If you delete your account we anonymise your posts (they are shown as "Deleted account") unless you ask us to delete them completely.
Moderation records: up to 24 months.
Reports you send us: up to 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask us to see, correct, delete or export your personal data, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Use "Export my data" in your account, or email [TO BE CONFIRMED]. We respond within one month. If you are not happy with our answer you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

CineVerse is not aimed at children. You must be 16 or over to post a review or comment. If you are under 16, please do not post, and ask a parent or guardian to contact us if you think we hold your personal data.

Moderation

We check posts before they appear, and we re-check them afterwards when they are reported. Our moderation policy explains what we remove and how to appeal: see /moderation-policy.

CineVerse sets no advertising or analytics cookies. The only cookie set by our accounts service is the one that keeps you signed in, and it is only set when you sign in. The trailer player is loaded from YouTube only after you press the play button; until then no request is made to YouTube and no YouTube cookie can be set. The TMDB logo and all other images on this site are served from CineVerse.
