Moderation policy
Draft policy text. This page is published for review. The items marked [TO BE CONFIRMED] must be completed before CineVerse accepts reviews or comments from the public.
Moderation policy
CineVerse is a place to write about films — what you thought, what worked, what did not. It is not a place to advertise, to attack people, or to share sources that do not have the right to show films.
What we publish
- Reviews of films in our catalogue, with a score from 1 to 10 (whole numbers only).
- Opinions on other people's reviews, using likes and reactions.
Comments on other people's reviews are currently closed while we review our moderation duties. You can still read reviews, score films, and like or dislike what others wrote.
What we remove
- Spam, advertising, and posts whose main purpose is a link.
- Links to services that stream or distribute films without permission.
- Hate speech, harassment, threats, sexual content, and content that encourages self-harm.
- Personal information about someone else, including contact details and addresses.
- Claims presented as fact about real people that we cannot verify.
- Copyrighted text reproduced without permission.
- Anything unlawful, or that we are told is unlawful by a competent authority.
How moderation works
- Your first post is reviewed before it appears. After that, most posts appear immediately.
- We run automatic checks on every post: too many links, unexpected code or markup, unusual use of capital letters, repeated words, and a list of terms and patterns we do not allow. A post that trips a check goes to a moderator instead of going live. It is not deleted.
- If you post something that is reported, a moderator reviews it and may hide it while they do.
- Every decision is recorded with a reason. Nothing is removed silently.
- Repeated breaches lead to your posts being reviewed before publication, and then to your account being restricted. You will always be told which rule was applied.
If we reject or remove your post
- We tell you the reason, in your account and by email.
- You can ask for a second look within 30 days using "Request a review". A different moderator reviews it. We aim to reply within 14 days.
Reporting content
Use the "Report" link on any review or comment, or email [TO BE CONFIRMED]. See /report for what happens next.
Copyright and defamation
If you believe your copyright has been infringed, or that a post about you is defamatory, email [TO BE CONFIRMED] with the details. We acknowledge legal notices promptly and act within the time limits that apply to us.
What we do not do
We do not stream films. We do not host or link to unauthorised sources. We do not edit the meaning of your review when we publish it.
